"Here Comes Goodbye"

As much as we all hate to admit it, our lives are chapters of goodbyes.  It's one of those things that it's sitting in front of you the whole time that you don't even notice it.  Until I heard this song, I never realized that we all say goodbye to almost everything.  Childhood, Innocence, Materialistic things, etc.....
But sometimes we get so caught up in goodbyes that we forget about all our hellos.

I was writing a song last night that reminded me of this amazing song.  Rascal Flatts were one of the first bands I've ever really gotten into and one of the best concerts I have ever been to!!  Definitely a must-see!!!  I recommend hearing the song first then watching the video.  The lyrics seem so literal but the video sheds light on a different aspect that you would never expect upon first listen.  One of the best songs Rascal Flatts has ever, ever recorded.  Read the story behind the song by one of the writers who was also a former American Idol contestant,
Chris Sligh: http://frommymindtoyoureyes.blogspot.com/2009/01/story-behind-music-here-comes-goodbye.html  The description in these lyrics is brilliant.  Who writes a first verse like this?!  Incredible.  The sense of anticipating disappointment is poignant.  I remember hearing this song for the first time knowing that I had never heard anything like it before.  Listen for yourself and leave a comment!!

FM Radio:
Singers: Rascal Flatts
Songwriters: Chris Sligh, Clint Lagerberg
Song: "Here Comes Goodbye"

I can hear the truck tires coming up the gravel road
And its not like her to drive that slow, nothin's on the radio
Footsteps on the front porch, I hear my doorbell
She usually comes right in, now I can tell

Here comes goodbye
Here comes the last time
Here comes the start of every sleepless night
The first of every tear I'm gonna cry
Here comes the pain
Here comes me wishing things had never changed
And she was right here in my arms tonight, but here comes goodbye

I can hear her say I love you like it was yesterday
And I can see it written on her face that she had never felt this way
One day I thought I'd see her with her daddy by her side
And violins would play here comes the bride

Here comes goodbye
Here comes the last time
Here comes the start of every sleepless night
The first of every tear I'm gonna cry
Here comes the pain
Here comes me wishing things had never changed
And she was right here in my arms tonight, but h
ere comes goodbye

Why does it have to go from good to gone?
Before the lights turn on, yeah and youre left alone
All alone, but here comes goodbye

Here comes goodbye
Here comes the last time
Here comes the start of every sleepless night
The first of every tear I'm gonna cry
Here comes the pain
Here comes me wishing things had never changed
And she was right here in my arms tonight, but here comes goodbye
